Switching to PHP 5.3 on HostGator Shared Hosting
If you are installing our script on Shared Hosting with HostGator, then you need to switch PHP version to the latest one under 5.3 branch.
You can simply add following line on top of your .htaccess file to switch your PHP version into 5.3 on HostGator Shared Hosting:
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php53 .php
